Editor-in-Chief

Nicky Bennett

Nicky Bennett is a writer, poet, and essayist whose work explores emotional nuance, vulnerability, identity, and the spaces we don’t always have language for. He is the author of multiple books spanning poetry and nonfiction, with a focus on introspection, masculinity, and the complexity of human experience.

As Editor-in-Chief of Not Quite Right, he is drawn to writing that resists easy answers—work that lingers, unsettles, and invites deeper reflection. His editorial approach prioritizes voice, honesty, and the kind of tension that stays with a reader long after the final line.

Reading Team

Currently forming

Not Quite Right is currently building its inaugural reading team.

We’re looking for thoughtful, engaged readers who care deeply about contemporary writing and are excited to help shape the voice of an emerging literary magazine. Readers will review submissions, provide feedback, and help identify work that aligns with our editorial vision.

You might be a good fit if you:

  • Read widely across poetry, fiction, and creative nonfiction
  • Have a strong sense of voice and emotional authenticity in writing
  • Appreciate work that is subtle, strange, or not easily categorized
  • Can offer clear, respectful, and constructive feedback
  • Are excited about helping build something from the ground up

Prior editorial experience is welcome, but not required.
